Verizon Announces The LG Slim enV2 29

Verizon LG Slim enV2
Earlier today, one day before CTIA Wireless 2008 begins, Verizon Wireless and LG Electronics announced the enV(2). This new phone is an upgrade to LG VX9900 (aka LG enV) which was first made available towards the end of 2006. The enV2 features V CAST Music/Video, VZ Navigator, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD Expansion, Stereo Speakers, Two Displays, 2.0 Mega Pixel Camera, and a QWERTY Keyboard.

“We know the texting audience wants a mobile device that is compact enough to slide easily into pant pockets and handbags without compromising the integrity of the phone’s features. The slimmed-down enV(2) offers everything consumers loved about the enV with the added benefit of a larger, more spacious internal screen with large easy-to-text keys.” said Ehtisham Rabbani, LG.

LG enV2 KeyboardThe enV also has a built in Email Client and a Instant Messenger Client (AIM, MSN, & YAHOO). It is a fully functioning MP3 player and can support holding up to 8GB on a microSD. The enV2 is about .4 ounces lighter and about .10 inches thinner than the LG enV. The front of the enV2 is reminiscent of the Samsung UpStage, which was partially a disappointment. Overall the enV2 has a entirely new look compared to the enV, however it doesn’t seem to have any new features. The phone will be available next month for $130 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and a two-year contract.

This new enV2 looks interesting, I would like to see the inside of it and know whether the music is as good on it as the enV as I heard the 10000 is not as good as the enV. Comments?!

I just realized that the inside picture had not been added, so I just updated the article with the photo of the inside of the enV2. (click to enlarge it!) If you have any more questions, just ask!

Yes, unfortunately you’ll have to wait a whole day since it will be available on “April 30 at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores”.

The full review of the enV2 will be published in a couple of hours which should answer your questions.

it looks like a caculater

FN? says:

The “FN” button is mostly likely the same exact thing as the “enV” Button on the old enV. Bring up a little menu so you can quick select programs.

Justin says:

I have this phone for about 2 months and it’s pretty decent so far. I’ve heard of the silver scraping off but that hasn’t happened to mine…Yet. The external display “sliver” is effin’ ridiculous. You can’t text on the front of the phone very easily, and the interface [of the front display] is crappy and out-of-date. My buttons look a little different and I think they serve different functions than on the one shown. They are illuminated blue and look more up-to-date. I don’t have the gray cross over the left-most keys (which is fine by me, it looks stupid), either. The expandable memory slot is a plus. The speakerphone is loud, and the interface is easy to learn. Applications respond quickly, and it’s 3G-enabled. So it can do everything “faster”, as well, making it a competitor for iPhone in that way. The battery life doesn’t cut it for me, though, and I would like to be able to change the internal interface to a list instead of the pre-set graphics-and-words one. All in all, it’s a great phone. My main grievances were the uselessness of the external portion of the phone and the battery life. I know the keyboard is full QWERTY, but I would have liked a t9 feature. It’s better than my last phone, a Samsung SPH-m510 by, like, a lot. I would give this phone a 9.6 out of 10.

mel says:

hey i really like this phone do u think i should convince my dad to let me get it??

Anonymous says:

Justin, how is the battery life not good enough for you? I left mine on four 24 hours and the battery level only dropped 1 bar out of 4. Do you not charge it or something? This comment may be a little off for the modern population though, since my last phone lasted 9 hours before it needed a recharge. So I don’t know what’s stopping you from charging it, but the battery life is certainly 4 times more than enough for me.
