Sahas Katta Founder + CEO

Sometime in 2004 I found myself addicted to the Internet. After spending some of my early days building HTML pages, I soon began creating a website, sahaskatta.com. After gaining popularity among family and friends, I joined the hopped onto the blogging bandwagon. Within a year or so, I launched Skatter Tech. Playing with gadgets was a pastime, now it’s my job. Skatter Tech has been fortunate to see an impressive amount of growth and hopefully that trend is here to stay. Setting web-life aside, I’m from the Bay Area, CA and am now an undergraduate student at the University Of California Davis majoring in Computer Engineering. I’ve also spent a few months working at TiVo, the makers of the popular TV set box DVR. More recently, I spent sometime at Six Apart, the makers of TypePad, Movable Type, and the platform behind BarackObama.com. I always keep an eye out for emerging, innovative, and unique technologies for both entertainment and business opportunities. If you would like a copy of my Resume, feel free to email me. Otherwise, please visit my personal blog (sahaskatta.com) to follow me.

Alex Harvey-Gurr Lead Content Editor

I’m an English major with an emphasis in Creative Writing at UC Davis. Writing has been a passion of mine for many years, and my dream is to write that ever elusive “great American novel.” Like most members of my generation, I spend more time than I should on the Internet instead of writing those papers that English professors love assigning so much. I believe that the literary field’s future lies with the Internet and technology; aspiring authors are already getting their careers jump started through blogging and products like the Kindle are reinventing the book market. When I’m not reading or writing, I’m listening to music, going on adventures with friends, or kicking back to watch bad horror and Sci Fi movies (with the occasional romantic comedy thrown into the mix, of course).

Sanketh Katta Business Advisor

Sanketh KattaI’m a student at UC Berkeley working toward a degree in Operations Research and Management Science. I grew up in a house filled with tech gadgets, I can’t remember a time without having a computer near me. I am proud to be part of this generation defined by the Internet culture and social networking. Since I was in grade school, I would love to download, install, and test various Linux distributions. I was and still am amazed by how much free software can do. As a result I love to learn about the workings of advertising and open source business models. Unlike older and traditional corporations, many start up companies have turned to using these models and have been truly successful. Aside from my technology and business interests, I am a very outdoorsy guy who likes to run, bike, swim, and especially ski.

Dominic Raad Senior Editor

Dominic RaadCurrently attending UC Davis with the focus of obtaining a degree in Chemical Engineering, I am interested in the line where Science and Engineering meets. I believe technology is an outlet for creativity and innovation, reflecting the advancements and aesthetic appreciation each generation has. I’ve got a big appreciation for the technology used in entertainment today, and love seeing the world around me become more and more like a good Science Fiction movie. I’m a laid back individual who enjoys going out with friends, or kicking back with a good video game and a bad movie.

Akshay Aanabathula Product Acquisition

Akshay AanabathulaWhen I first started college, I was trying to do everything. I was a Pre-Med/Dental student majoring in Chemistry and Economics. Later, I changed my major to Electrical Engineering, which I stuck with for a while. I recently have discovered what my career passions are: Technology, Law Enforcement, and Security. Ideally, if I could become the next Robo-Cop, that would be amazing. But alas, reality dictates that it isn’t possible… yet. Aside from graduating with a degree in Psychology, I plan to become a police officer. In addition, I have plans on obtaining a JD, MBA, and PhD. Currently, aside from trying to get more involved in Skatter Tech, I work as an intern for the Sacramento Police Department. My hobbies include watching awesome movies and funny television shows, listening to great music, paint balling, snowboarding, and playing some good video games.

Ian Thackston Web Developer

Technology is most definitely my bag. I’ve been making websites since I was just out of elementary school. My co-workers joke that I can make their broken computer work again just by staring at it. I’m working on a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering at the University of California, Davis to further develop my life long hobby and turn it into a career.

Chris Tung Tech Reporter

I am an English and Asian American Studies double major at UC Davis, but other than books and cultural studies my passion in life is technology. For as long as I can remember, I have been a fan of all things geek. Computers, video games, gadgets, cool toys and everything else in that range have been my ways of unwinding, and I firmly believe that the exponential growth in technology even in the past decade will allow our generation to see and do things that the previous generation couldn’t possibly imagine. Outside of tech stuff, I am a huge comic book nerd, and I attempt to write them when I’m not writing papers, blogging, or playing video games.

Manish Mamidanna Tech Reporter

Technology has always found new ways to adapt to both individual needs, and society as a whole. It is the prospect of developing and assisting in creating new technologies that has inspired me to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering at UC Davis. Currently, as a 3rd year, I plan to finish my undergrad and move on to pursue a Masters, or even perhaps a PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering. It never ceases to amaze me how fast paced the tech industry is. New markets and demographics spawn and fade in the blink of an eye. Most products become obsolete, allowing for the emergence of newer and better ones. As Robert Noyce, one of the founders of Intel once said, “Innovation is everything. When you’re on the forefront you can see what the next innovation needs to be.” In my spare time I like to follow politics religiously, drum, make electronic music, run, play sports, and the list goes on. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to shoot me an email.

Jeremy Collins Social Media

I’m an undergraduate student at UC Davis who has settled on majoring in Communication and Political Science (after changing my mind perhaps ten times). I had plans to work public policy for the Government or go to law school, but my strong desire to collect gadgets and talk geek with people has shown me that the tech scene may be where I belong. Other than that, I love a good political debate, a sci-fi book or movie, and I tinker around with graphic design and video editing from time to time.

Jacob Mederos Photographer

A student of Computer Engineering currently attending UC Davis, I grew up with a fascination for both technology and aesthetics. I can still recall the first time I was allowed to use a computer when I was three (it ran Windows 3.1), as well as the time I first picked up an SLR about a year later (an old Pentax picked from a garage sale). Eventually, both passions collided with Photoshop 7 and a digital camera: the Sony DSC-P93 (which I still use). After college, I’m looking forward to continue to combine these talents in the media software industry.

Santhi Vinnakota Content Editor

I’m a Genetics major with an emphasis in human genomics and a minor in English at UC Davis. I feel that the future of human medicine and medical research lies in our ability to create new technology to further understand all the complexities of nature. I joined the Skatter Tech team to become more exposed to the all the technological advances that are constantly being created. Aside from biology, literature and writing have been a passion of mine for many years and I would love to see them be further incorporated into today’s ever-changing technological world. When I’m not frantically trying to memorize amino acids I enjoy just hanging out with my friends, watching movies, and of course shopping for shoes.
