I don’t have enough experience with 3D imaging or video capture to know what is good or bad.

And yes it has a 8 person WiFi hotspot feature built in.

Can it act as a hot-spot or tether?

I’ll bet a lot of people would accept the size increase just to get the bigger battery and dual-core processor.
