You have to use your finger to touch the display to unlock it. So it can’t unlock itself by bumping into something. You can always go to a Verizon Store and mess with it. And in fact I recommend doing that before buying a phone.

I am looking into buying a Dare. I was wondering if the phone is pretty good about staying locked while your pocket or will buttons be pushed and turned on???

Thus far I have been unable to find any way in readily loading my existing addressbook off of my PC onto the phone. Motorola has a very user friendly way of transfering an exisitng addressbook into its own format with very little effort. This is a sticking point for me, since first and foremost it is a phone, so I would have thought that the expectations for phone functions would rise to the latest industry level.

I have the Dare as well its is an excellent phone however i feel like they should of taken more time on the software quality. Like stated above yes sending and recieving photos it locks up the phone, but also the internet loading pages is kind of sketchy and internet axcess is awesome but right away your limited from maps from google and like again stated above no flash support. They really need to step it up:( It can’t be that hard plus it would only bring on more customers. +1 phone -1 software all and all though awesome review and i’d still take this phone over all blackberries.

The LG Dare was made after the LG Prada as was the iPhone, so no, the Dare wasn’t an iHype, I mean iPhone “imitation”, it’s made after the Prada since the Prada wasn’t released in the U.S. But the LG Prada was the first touch screen phone out. And I’ve seen great ratings.

My LG Dare does the same screen lock up as yours (WHAT’S NEW). Have you ever plugged yours into your computer? I’v noticed mine does it more after I have plugged it into my computer or I have fully charged it when it’s been turned off. Don’t know why it does that but it bugs the crap outta me!

I’ve had my LG Dare for a week now; it has a few issues: It keeps getting locked up after receiving an e-mail from a POP server if I don’t aknowledge it right away. It locks up on the screen that sais: VIEW NOW – IGNORE.
It also locks up occationally on a screen titled WHAT’S NEW that shows a bunch of folders with a star on them. The only way I’ve been able to unlock it is by removing the battery. Anyone know why?

I am ready to make the leap to the Dare and junk my old mp3 player in the process. One thing I have not been able to determine anywhere… can music (mp3s) be downloaded from a PC directly to the Dare? I read that “VCast” can be used, but does this mean I have to purchase all songs through Verizon/Rhapsody?

I bought the Dare in early August for one reason: its Drawing Pad application. My intention was to draw with it to make art. I use my phone in this way every day and I post them to my web site. You can take a look here:

Thought the palette is limited to about 7 colors, I’ve recently figured out how to squeeze turquoise and orange from the Drawing Pad app as well (using the rainbow tool), as you can see in my recent sketch of a rooster at my web site.

Let me suggest this:

The cell phone started out as mechanism for communication, then became a means for productivity (calendaring, reading network email, etc), then grew into a channel for entertainment (video, Internet, songs). I think the cell phone could move next to become a device for creativity – that’s an uncaptured, unexplored market segment. If LG and other manufacturers build higher end capabilities into the phone, I believe there’s a huge opportunity for the phone to become much more addictive than it already is.

THE DARE IS THE BEST.
I love my dare.
Best phone I have ever owned.
I love it.
I love the feel of the back,
it makes the phone easy to grip while texting.
Yes the keyboard is hard to get used to,
but i got used to mine! :)
and i had to choose between the dare or glyde,
i chose the dare and i am so glad.
it is so fun and i think even better than the iphone.
I highly reccomend the dare.
I am typing this on my dare. :)

I have had numerous Verizon Phones since 1985. StarTac, Kyocera’s, RAZR, KRZR, RAZR2, have a Blackberry 8330. The LG Dare is one of the most fun, and full function phone I have had. I bought the extended life battery and have never used it. I would highly recommend this phone for quality, fun, easy use and every feature you could want.

Flash **isn’t** supported! Which was pretty disappointing. Although the iPhone doesn’t support it either. Hopefully a new firmware might be able to implement it!

Pros:
Light, Small and Compact.
Good Battery Life
Good Signal with a Fast Browser
Rubberized back for good grip

Cons:
Texting is hard to get good at for some people like me
Low light produced for backlight(glare)
Sometimes people complain of not being able to hear me.
Video camera has a blue tint problem in high speed.

This is one of the best phones released for verizon network. The touchscreen is amazingly accurate especially coming from the voyager which touchscreen sucks in accuracy. So they really improved it when making this phone. Multi-tasking music player is also a plus when your on those bored days with nothing to do besides texting. Some things that need to be worked on are some of the glitches that the phone produces such as the phone restarting when doing something such as scrolling through text messages on the phone but you can fix this by resetting the phone which I found out on http://LG-Dare.com. But I believe the restarting problems can be fixed in a firmware update. But the phone has alot of tricks and features which you might not figure out until a couple of days after you get the phone. I know LG made a site( http://www.lgmobilephones.com/phone.aspx?id=8712 ) thats basically a picture manual for the LG Dare and it really helped learn the phone also.
