Verizon Wireless - Moto KRZR - September 29, 2006
Looking for a new phone? Well the brand new Motorola KRZR K1m is now available through Verizon Wireless. After being frowned upon for being the last cell phone provider to get the RAZR, VZW is now the first to get the new KRZR. This new RAZR-like phone features a 1.3MP camera, Mp3/Mp4 playback (plus V Cast Music/Video), MicroSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and Verizon’s V Cast services. The KRZR has now has many of the features that the RAZR lacked, which include external music controls (touch sensitive), a more robust battery life, and a slightly larger internal storage capacity.
Anyways if you wish to get one it is available online now for $199 with a new 2-year contract and $99 for existing customers who are eligible for upgrade. (Note: Won’t be in stores until October 5th) Although we havn’t had a hands-on-review yet, by the looks of it, it seems as though it will be a pretty good phone, despite the fact that it is a bit pricy. Also Skatter Tech will be getting a KRZR by Monday (10/02/06), so check back and expect an in depth review with plenty of pictures soon!

I have a microSD/TransFlash adapter for my memory card and i cannot figure out where i put the adapter to get it hooked into my computer! I know this is probably a dumb question but where does it go?
Harry says
Emily,
Place your micro sd in your adapter. This is then placed in your USB sd card reader/writer. I am assuming that you don’t have such an accessory. You can get one for around $25.00. Once you have plugged the reader into your computer’s USB2 port with your adapter plugged in, your computer will recognize it as a removeable drive. You can then drag and drop your mp3 files onto it.
Try it. It works.

To use ringtones- change the file type to .mmf
Works with e-mailing ringtones
Gregg says
here ya go, very good price, fits into an empty 3 1/2″ bay, plugs into a a USB connector on your sys board. Only 20 bucks and includes shipping. here’s the website
http://3btech.net/52in1usb20in.html
Admin Edit: If you need a card reader we suggest the USB Kingston 15-in-1 Card Reader
adam says
Lindsey, so you change the filename and then you can email the file to 123456789@vzwpix.com and it works? If that is what you are saying, can anyone else confirm or deny?
Norman says
I tried just changing the file name and emailing it and it did not work. Verizon has made some changes that stops from saving directly to your ringtones. There is an explaination for saving ringtones by using special software that is free. It is explained here somewhere.
Gregg says
Adam—I copied and pasted these instructions from page 3. “I found this on CNET and it works GREAT. I have loaded a bunch of mp3 ringtones on my KRZR for free. They need to be short and 96 bitrate. AND vibrate has to be turned OFF. Check this website for the instructions and links to download a few things. PKCommander is an easy to use program. HAVE FUN.”

So I just bought the Krzr and I’ve been trying to put music onto my phone but I’ve had no luck. My laptop is bluetooth enabled as well as my phone and I have been able to successfully connect the two together so that they both recognize the other. I figured that once both my laptop and phone were connected via bluetooth I could easily send my files over to use as a ringtone or just play the song. However, this isn’t working =( Once I get everything connected I can’t figure out how to send the file. Does anyone know what’s going on or what I can possibly do? I was hoping I wouldn’t have to buy the SD card since I have bluetooth on my laptop and such, but if anyone could let me know how this bluetooth thing works, that would be awesome!
Thanks so much!

Unless you figure out a hack, you will not be able to transfer files between your laptop and your phone, because Verizon has locked it up. They are trying to prevent you from doing exactly what you are trying to do, get free ringtones. If you want to add ringtones to your phone skim through the comments and you’ll find plenty of links to tutorials on how to add ringtones for free!
Noelle says
Sahas, thank so much! I was finally able to figure it out using one of the tutorials.
One more quick question for anyone though: I’ve set different ringtones for different people that call so a lot of my friends have their own specialized ringtone. However, whether they call or I get a text, that ringtone plays. I wanted to keep my normal beep for the text for ANYONE, but then have the special ringtone for when the person calls. Is there anyway I can change it to have the beep for everyone when I get a text and have a ringtone for when they call?
Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks so much for this! I was having the same problem and find this site while googling the problem. You saved me a trip to the Verizon store :)

Hi. I just got my krzr today. I have been searching all over the net trying to find out how to put music onto my phone using the USB cable. My carrier is Alltel. I know its too early to judge the phone but it is very frusrating that I cant get this done. I’m usually good at this kind of stuff. Maybe its very simple, I’m just missing it. I dont know. Thanks in advance.
Gregg says
KLAW– Read the last 2 pages (pgs 3 and 4) above. You can’t miss it!!!
One way is with Windows media player, the other is with VCAST
