Verizon Wireless - Motorola KRZR

Looking for a new phone? Well the brand new Motorola KRZR K1m is now available through Verizon Wireless. After being frowned upon for being the last cell phone provider to get the RAZR, VZW is now the first to get the new KRZR. This new RAZR-like phone features a 1.3MP camera, Mp3/Mp4 playback (plus V Cast Music/Video), MicroSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and Verizon’s V Cast services. The KRZR has now has many of the features that the RAZR lacked, which include external music controls (touch sensitive), a more robust battery life, and a slightly larger internal storage capacity.

Motorola KRZR ImagesAnyways if you wish to get one it is available online now for $199 with a new 2-year contract and $99 for existing customers who are eligible for upgrade. (Note: Won’t be in stores until October 5th) Although we havn’t had a hands-on-review yet, by the looks of it, it seems as though it will be a pretty good phone, despite the fact that it is a bit pricy. Also Skatter Tech will be getting a KRZR by Monday (10/02/06), so check back and expect an in depth review with plenty of pictures soon!

My Motokrzr has a blue screen and says “BOOTLOADER USB INIT”. It won’t turn off, on or do anything. What do I do?

Find myself (like lots of others…) VERY frustrated with this phone! It may be slick and sexy but after just 4 days I am ready to roll back over to my rock solid - WONDERFUL v710! Thought I had a bum phone when I realized I couldn’t save a ringtone with a contact - called Moto and was told they were working on a software fix but had no ETA of when it would be done - this phone is out for more then a year! Also do not love the menu layout - the print is small on the screen - that damn missed call beep will wake the dead - the ringer choices suck…. the list goes on - and I haven’t even tried to make it work as a modem for my laptop - I shutter to think what chaos that will cause! Thanks for this forum - because if I keep it - I figure it will become my number one place to visit online!

DCJFS says

Yeah, it’s a cool phone, but I think it’s a rip off, quite frankly - if I had it to do over again, I would not have bought this phone. It’s not an MP3 Player, it only plays songs that were purchased on-line - they all require a license to play. So, all my songs on my 100+ CD library, that play perfectly on my computer, will not play on this KRZR. I’d have to buy all the same CDs over again on-line to get the license. Is there any way around this? I can’t tell you how frustrated I’ve been trying to get this to work. It’s a gimmick to get you to spend more money on more songs. I don’t play like that.

Norman Picard says

I love it. I have loaded songs from my PC on it and it works great. I recommend a headset that allows you to answer calls too.
What I have found to work is to get the Motorola tools and make sure it is completely updated. Then load in the Verizon Media tools (comes with the Music Essentials Kit) Get a MicroSD card. Then load in songs. I have had great success this way. Hope this helps others.

TO: dcjfs, download songs from limewire.com and export them to media player then to your phone. This is done after getting your pc to recognize your phone through a usb cable hook-up. I did this but it took a lot of help from this web site. GOOD LUCK!

the email method works for me…but recently its been inconsistent with where it saves but generally if you email it by attachment and it sounds like an mp3 not a recording on the phone, it should save to my ring tones and end up with a yellow lock next to it

I’ve been having the same problem Timmy I’m not sure wat’s going on, maybe verizon has updated their network and put some blocks on things. it would be greatly appreciated if some1 could figure this out

Gregg says

I found this on CNET and it works GREAT. I have loaded a bunch of mp3 ringtones on my KRZR for free. They need to be short and 96 bitrate. AND vibrate has to be turned OFF. Check this website for the instructions and links to download a few things. PKCommander is an easy to use program. HAVE FUN.

OH, I found a cheap place to get the USB cable, THE DOLLAR TREE !!! Or if you have a digital camera, use the cable from that.

I tried the method of sending tones to my phone by email, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work. I’m not sure what it is but I’ve always had bad luck with technology. I send the file to my phone (by attaching it to an email not sure if that’s how I’m supposed to send it, but it seemed to be the only way) but when my phone receives it, it doesn’t have the option of saving the sound. I open up the message and go to options, but the only option it has that is even close is “Save Quick Text” which doesn’t help me at all.

I have made sure the file was under 0:20 and less than 96kbps, it still doesn’t work. I go to all my sound folders and such but nothing has shown up. It’d be great if someone could help with this. I always do things exactly as I’m told to do them, but they almost never work out how they’re supposed to.

Norman Picard says

I use mobile17.com for sending music clips to my phone for use as ringtones. Works great.

Katie says

I’ve had the Krzr for a few months now and i’ve been able to figure somethings out.. but currently my friend and i went on a website for free ringtones so we decided to put some on my phone i saved it to my sounds like the website said and attempted to follow the steps but then i got sorta lost, so my question is how do i make sounds into ringtones on my phone, i went to settings and tools, then sound settings, then call settings, then call ringtone.. and then im lost am i doing something wrong?

Lily says

Does any one know how to turn off the missed call beep reminder sound on the Motorola Moto KMZR K1m? I have never had a phone like this. It just keeps beeping until you deal with it. It drives me crazy! I really hope it is possible to turn it off.

Gregg says

Forgive me if this is duplicated but here is a link to download VCAST MUSIC ESSENTIALS so you can put music on your KRZR…..NOT RING TONES(see my previous post for rintones)
http://www.vzam.net/vcastmusic/

Rollo says

Patrese:

Verizon redid the messaging of music to save htem as Sounds rather than as ringtones so that Verizon will make more money, forcing you to buy ringtones. It’s a money thing….BOOOOO Verizon

Timmy says

Hey gregg the ringtone method worked fine until i put it on my phone, it reads it and everything and plays it under ringtones, but whenever i assign it to anything, i get a silent sound as if i had no ringer assigned. help would be appreciated

Gregg says

Just follow every instruction on this weblink,
http://aznuwee.googlepages.com
don’t forget to delete the file it says. If you have a good wave editor you can make your own ring tones from your favorite songs, just save em as mp3’s and transfer to your phone.

Timmy says

oh thank you, i forgot to delete the file the second time, because i didn’t know that you had to do that each time you input the ringtones. Thanks for posting the method it works great, especially making my own custom ringtones

Chucky says

i just got my krzr through sprint.. so far it works great… but when i set a ringer… even if the volume is set to high and vibrate which is as high as it will go… the ringer isnt very loud… any tweaks to get it louder ?

and when i record the little voice memo’s and set them as my ringtones they are not loud either…

please help !

VANESSA says

Kay says

I have the MOTOKRZR k1m Fire. And my phone keeps freezing everytime I try to text someone. HELP!

Vmprjessie says

I just bought a red krzr from verizon i bought a micro sd card and i actually had it working but then when i removed the card to put more sutff on it and put it back in says player error music not available .. so restarted the phone didnt help .. looked at the disk on the comp again and its says theres music on it .. so i erased everything on the disk reformated it .. and put the music on that was working for it and it still comes up the same error .. I miss my l6 slvr

Gregg says

Hey Jess,
I have read that it is important to erase the micro disk, Then put it in your phone and it will format the disk automatically with the right folder names. Then add your songs. I hope that is all it takes. If not, try a different micro disk if you can. The way they come out of the back of the phone sux, you may have cracked it. You should be able to use VCAST or MEDIA PLAYER to put songs on it(read my posts above) that wat everyone plays nice. good luck

Andrea says

My krzr won’t connect to my usb cord. What am I doing wrong? I hook it up to the computer, then to my phone, go into get it now, and then to sync music and try to connect and it always says “connect failure”. I don’t know what else to try. Help please?

Gregg says

Andrea,
Make sure you got a driver for it. Run the driver THEN hook up and SYNC, Download this:
