Verizon Wireless - Moto KRZR - September 29, 2006
Looking for a new phone? Well the brand new Motorola KRZR K1m is now available through Verizon Wireless. After being frowned upon for being the last cell phone provider to get the RAZR, VZW is now the first to get the new KRZR. This new RAZR-like phone features a 1.3MP camera, Mp3/Mp4 playback (plus V Cast Music/Video), MicroSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and Verizon’s V Cast services. The KRZR has now has many of the features that the RAZR lacked, which include external music controls (touch sensitive), a more robust battery life, and a slightly larger internal storage capacity.
Anyways if you wish to get one it is available online now for $199 with a new 2-year contract and $99 for existing customers who are eligible for upgrade. (Note: Won’t be in stores until October 5th) Although we havn’t had a hands-on-review yet, by the looks of it, it seems as though it will be a pretty good phone, despite the fact that it is a bit pricy. Also Skatter Tech will be getting a KRZR by Monday (10/02/06), so check back and expect an in depth review with plenty of pictures soon!

Does anyone know how to turn off the missed call reminder. For some reason that beep scared my dog to death.

I just managed to successfully transfer an MP3 using my bluetooth connection on my laptop to the k1m. However, I can’t find the file either on the phone memory, or on the mini-SD card memory! Confirmed that the filename is not too long, in the right format. Can anybody offer suggetions?

It took me almost a month to get ring tones on my phone, there are SO many posts on the net about this issue! I’ve tried a few different ways but the fail safe way for me is to just e-mail the mp3 file to my phone. To be able to assign different ring tones to different contacts, I had to turn off the call vibrate function, which sucks because that’s a good feature. I read in an earlier post that Motorola acknowledges that this is a bug and was working on a fix. Does anyone know if this was fixed?

Has anyone tried DataPilot to transfer MP3 ringtones to the KRZR K1m ? I have successfully transferred some MP3’s and they work fine as ringtones. Others show up on the phone as ringtones, but when I try to assign them to a contact, it goes back to the default. These ringtones play fine when I play them, but will not assign to a contact. I have used the specs discussed in an earlier post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Funny,I just got my 1GB SD Micro today. Popped it in,plugged the USB in,phone now connects NP…..
But Im not gonna bother as its just faster & easier to drag & drop with a card reader.
Doctor Dan says
Is it possible to transfer MP3 ringtones to the KRZR K1m via a Micro SD card, i.e. transferring the MP3s from a PC to the Micro SD using a card reader, and then installing the Micro SD card in the phone?

Hello everyone. I was wondering if the Motorola OEM SYN1301B headset (I believe this headset came w/ the Music Essential Package) is compatible with Verizon’s Motorola Krzr K1m because some people say it is compatible and some say it isn’t (JJ on Nov 30, above post, says his Moto OEM headset didn’t work). Also if it is compatible does the headset have a high volume level and good quality playback. Any feedback from anyone that has this headset would be great.

Hello, I just purchased a Krzr and a 1G SanDisk card. I have about 130 songs downloaded but when I try to play them it locks my phone up? A friend of mine has a Krzr and my card locks his phone up also? A co-worker of mine has a Chocolate phone and he tried my card in his phone and it worked fine and played the songs. I have a card reader and was going to erase the card but it says that its “write protected” What can I do to get the card to work on my phone or how can I erase the card? Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to disable the screensaver on the K1M? Verizon, in their youthful innocence, has utterly crippled this phone with their ridiculously useless software version. Thanks in advance.

So, i’m having issues assigning different ringtones to individual contacts, and ive tried everything like grouping contacts and i even removed a default and individually assigned ringtones to all the contacts, but all that happened was no ringtone at all. ANybody else have this problem? Some help?
Darci says
You have to disable the vibrate option or the individual ringtones won’t work, it will just use the default.
Kate says

need some help here, I successfully got all my music onto my Krzr, and managed to email my phone a song under 20 seconds to use as a ringtone, and i saved it as a sound. It’s under my sounds, but there is no option to set it as a ringtone, what do i do?
Daniel says
Simple question.. How do I format the card? Thanks.
sahas says
Just place the card in the phone. Turn it OFF and then back ON.
It should then have created the my_music/flix/pix folders.

This is quite a useful thread. Thanks in advance to all the helpful people. I have a KRZR and I’m trying to transfer some mp3s and pictures to my my memory card using bluetooth (via bluesoleil). I can transfer things fine to the phone’s internal memory, but for some reason it won’t let me add or change files on the memory card. Is this normal? Or is there any way to change this? Thanks.

I got a krazr and when i take the sim card out the names of the music artists and albums are still on the phone but the music isnt there. I figured out how to earase the albums but I want to erase the names but don’t know how to and it’s really bothering me. how can you??
Brian G says
Well i got the KRZR a week ago, im very well working with usb and all that phone stuff. I just want to know if you can upload music to the phone without a SD card?
tk says
how do i put videos on my v-cast razr?
JD says
I’m having the same problem 2 others mentioned. I can load a bunch of songs onto my 2gb microSD card using a card reader, but only the 1st of them alphabetically appears in the mp3 player on the phone. i’ve tried putting the songs in directories individually or putting them all in 1 directory (from other posts, I now understand that up to 50 songs can go in one directory). nothing seems to work.
I noticed one of the 2 other people that posted with this problem said they were using a mac. I also used a mac. Perhaps it’s something the Mac OS does that causes the problem?
Has anyone with a Mac been able to get more than 1 mp3 file to play?
Does anyone have a fix?

I have the KRZR K1M, but the USCellular version. My issue is that I have removed ringtones via Motorola Phone Tools, but it is still listed in the phone itself, but no sound is attached (I am assuming it didn’t clean the entry in the database). Any ideas how to get that removed?
