Verizon Wireless – Moto KRZR 245

Verizon Wireless - Motorola KRZR

Looking for a new phone? Well the brand new Motorola KRZR K1m is now available through Verizon Wireless. After being frowned upon for being the last cell phone provider to get the RAZR, VZW is now the first to get the new KRZR. This new RAZR-like phone features a 1.3MP camera, Mp3/Mp4 playback (plus V Cast Music/Video), MicroSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and Verizon’s V Cast services. The KRZR has now has many of the features that the RAZR lacked, which include external music controls (touch sensitive), a more robust battery life, and a slightly larger internal storage capacity.

Motorola KRZR ImagesAnyways if you wish to get one it is available online now for $199 with a new 2-year contract and $99 for existing customers who are eligible for upgrade. (Note: Won’t be in stores until October 5th) Although we havn’t had a hands-on-review yet, by the looks of it, it seems as though it will be a pretty good phone, despite the fact that it is a bit pricy. Also Skatter Tech will be getting a KRZR by Monday (10/02/06), so check back and expect an in depth review with plenty of pictures soon!

I think it means you should take it to where you got it and let them either reflash the firmware or replace it for you. Sorry, sounds like you got a bum one.

I’m desperate for help. I’ve tried everything posted here. My scan Disk shows my mp3 songs are on it, when I try to pull it up on my KRZR, it still shows nothing! Any tips rea appreciated!

V: I don’t know WHO you are, but thank you SO much for solving my no sound issue on the MOTOKRZR K1. Your solution was the ONLY one that worked. Thanks!!

Hey folks, I got a Krzr, came to this site looking for help with ringtones, followed the direction gregg (and others) posted, and it worked terrific (thank you all). When i tried to set individual ringtones for people, i always got the default. checked here again and it said that vibrate must be disabled, checked my phone and it was checked as disabled. On a whim, i checked it to Enabled, and tried again… individualized ring tones (with vibration)! When i ran the motorla update software, it found new software and installed it. It is POSSIBLE that the vibrate enabled/disabled thing was changed in the latest version… either that or i got the ONE weird phone that needs it ENABLED instead of disabled. try both if you are having this problem… it may depend on your software.

This is an addition to all posts regarding the “motorola phone tools” restriction on adding and editing photos/ringtones/videos for the verizon krzr. If you don’t want to edit the seem (good choice), there’s still a way to edit multimedia in MPT. Here is how:

Open C:\Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools\detect.inf

if you did not install MPT in the directory C:\Program Files, make sure you find out where it is because it obviously will not open otherwise

This will open what is similar to a .txt document and you may have to do some searching, but find the following code:

[K1m]
Driver=K1c
Manufacturer=+CGMI: “Motorola CE, Copyright
Model=”"MODEL=K1m”"
CapaNetwork=CDMA
PnPNames=Motorola USB Modem
BT=1
DeviceFile=MotorolaGeneric_1.htm
PairingFile=MotorolaGeneric_2.htm
PicturePhone=Moto_K1c.jpg
ID_DEVICE=1777

and add an m to the end of the driver so it now shows:

[K1m]
Driver=K1cm
Manufacturer=+CGMI: “Motorola CE, Copyright
Model=”"MODEL=K1m”"
CapaNetwork=CDMA
PnPNames=Motorola USB Modem
BT=1
DeviceFile=MotorolaGeneric_1.htm
PairingFile=MotorolaGeneric_2.htm
PicturePhone=Moto_K1c.jpg
ID_DEVICE=1777

other than that, leave everything else the same.
save and close.

Open MPT. If it still recognizes your phone, just go menu->setup->connect a new phone. just unplug and reinsert the usb cable and it will recognize your phone–still as verizon–but now it will allow you to use multimedia studio.

It worked great with my phone and this way you don’t have to worry about completely screwing over your phone and voiding your warranty.

Rachel says:

Can someone please give me the path to where you change the tone for your text messages? I have changed it before but now I cant find where I need to go to change it again. Thank you!

To the post “thebridget says” You rock!! Thanks so much, it worked like a champ!
Just FYI, you must have at least MPT 4.3.3 for it to recognize the K1m

i hate this phone with a passion. it sucks!
i havent met a single person that has liked this phone. it’s like a very slow computer and it breaks on me all the time.
i honestly is the worst phone i have ever had.
sucksss

Gregg says:

You guys all ask alot of the same questions about ringtones on the K1m with Verizon. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE PREVIOUS PAGES ABOUT HOW TO DO THIS. The link: http://aznuwee.googlepages.com/ still works and I still use P2K fine. Follow the instructions! There are limitations to making your own ringtones and using them. READ THEM. P2K is in a .rar format. YOU NEED “WINRAR” to unzip it! GOOGLE WINRAR and download/install it. If you have USB connection lockups or bootouts…use a different USB cable and/or USB port on your PC. If you can’t receive pictures from people sending them, maybe you should try deleting old junk off to make room or buy a micro SD card for more room. When was the last time you all did a *228 to update your phone?
You can play any .mp3s on your phone and the speaker is pretty good. Get a micro SD card and play em from there. Hopefully you have a media slot on your PC and an SD adapter to dump em on your card first. If you have no micro SD card, you will have to keep trying to get MSU and P2K to work. If not you can try to get V-Cast Music essentials to work from Verizon:
http://www.vzam.net/vcastmusic/Default.aspx

Gregg says:

This is a Verizon discussion Board…SIMS are AT&T/Cingular
Not sure about it but I think the phone MP3 player does not play WMA format songs. They need to be MP3’s.

Tisha says:

What is the *228 equivalent in Canada? Also, I have 2 USB ports on my laptop, tried them both, tried different cord, tried different phone(have 2 KRZR’s) The blue one is GARBAGE, and the Red one, my boyfriend’s works great for him. He gets signal when I don’t, he can letter scroll thru phonebook, i never could, anyhow..I have many issues with my phone, but right now, I want to get pics of my phone. Could before, can’t now. Need a driver pleaseeeeeeee

r says:

use a small piece of tape and hold the lock key on off

ka says:

My KRZR K1m will not exceed 100 texts in my inbox. I recently got it fixed with and came home with a brand new phone. My old phone could hold a totaly of 1000+ text messages. It gets really annoying to delete them over and over

Gregg says:

Well, my old friend just went to the great grave yard in the sky. It started locking up and rebooting. Verizon said it was going into a software meltdown-no hope. It took an hour to copy all the names and phone numbers. It would not stay on long enough to transfer the data-that sucked. The new phone is the KRAVE. Nice features, the touch screen is a bit too touchy. Will take a while to get used to, so as of now- bye-bye KRZR

Delagio says:

Have had the KRZR k1m for 2 years, completely frustated with the fact that Verizon has locked the features. Used P2K Commander and MSU program and was able to transfer MP3s to phone for ringtones. It takes a little while and a few tries but if you follow the detailed instructions at: http://aznuwee.googlepages.com/ you should be able to successfully transfer the files. Good luck everyone
