If you mean browsing something else while being able to glance at your song while all buttons pressed or touched do not affect the song, then yes, it is a great idea. I thought you were trying to show some sort of dual-control UI. :P

retro, my idea with this was multi-tasking. I thought it would be a good feature so that people could be viewing the status of their song below, while at the same time being able to browser through their library, view photos, or play those mini games. Don't you think that would be good?

Um, no offense meant to be taken, but the image you created does not seem real in any fashion. It does, however, look like one of Apple's product mock-ups, albeit one that doesn't make much sense (Photo library showing at the same time as a song? No.) If these iPod AV pictures are in fact fake (the cool ones from MacShrine and youtube), then we really have some dedicated artists trying to trick us. This stuff is hard to pull off, believe me, I am a proffesional with photoshop, and it takes me anywhere from 30-90 minutes to create a photorealistic mock-up. Either way, I'm waving my flag for the supposed leakers.

But hell, it would be SO DAMN COOL if Apple released the iPod AV. Man, I would be all over it.
