PSP v2.60 HomeBrew 138
The PSP can finally run homebrew games and applications on firmware 2.60. It previously only worked on 1.50 units and on PSPs that were downgraded from 2.00 to 1.50. There was minimal support on 2.00+, but with this tutorial most homebew applications should function. We should expect to see a new update very soon from Sony, possibly 2.70 or a minor “security” update to v2.60. If a new update is released, obviously do not update for a while untill information about what exactly it does is available. The homebrew on 2.60 PSPs will be able to run Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Atari Lynx, and many other applications.To run homebrew applications:
- PSP with v2.60 installed
- Memory Card with enough space
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
- USB Cable or MS Pro Duo Reader
To install homebrew applications:
- Download “homebrew260.zip” and extract content
- Connect and open media storage device
- Copy contents of GAME & paste them in X:\PSP\GAME\
- Copy folder “ULUS10041S5″ and paste in X:\PSP\SAVEDATA\
- Place all the homebrew application files in GAME
- Start GTA & load profile 5 to get to the homebrew menu
- To quit the homebrew menu just hit the “start” button

Note: At the momment standard homebrew applications can only be run on PSPs with either 1.50 or 2.60. (nothing in between). If you have 2.60 only way to run these apps is with the retail edition of GTA. (not a UMD rip) Also downgrading PSPs can only be downgraded from 2.00 to 1.50. (no other combos will work!) P.S. Don’t ask us how to find UMD rips.

I have firmware 2.6 . I got the eloader to work. I put the snes9x super nintendo emulator on and actually got games to start working. my problem is that once i leave the emulator,the psp crashes and when i try to start the emulator again off of the gta eloader my psp will crash again and i will have to delete all of the games and then restart to get it to work again.
Does anyone know how to use the snes9x emulator with the GTA eloader a little better than me? i could use some help with where to put the roms without crashing the emulator. please help!
just to get a game to work one time, i have to put the same rom into X:psp/common, X:psp/game, and X:psp/game/snes9x. But it will only work the first time i try it. I have version 1.60, I installed emulator Snes9x with GTA eloader and it work, when I press “Run” on snes9xTYL it works 1 time on 5 (it start or it crash). When it’s finally started, they wrote an error that they can’t load any roms. Then there is no rom found. I tried to put roms everywhere in PSP folders.

i run threw the instructions and when i loaded the homebrew my psp just crashed so i had to reload it any sugestions please??
You have to put the contents of GAME folder in
“X:/psp/game/”
Example:
X:/psp/game/loader095gta.ctf
X:/psp/game/loadmenu.tga
X:/psp/game/loadmenu095.pbp
After, you put the whole folder “ULUS10041S5″ in
X:/psp/savedata/

X:/psp/game/game/

I’ve succesfully loaded the snes9x emulator for several times, but couldn’t load games, so i used the pspSEI tool to decorrupt the snes9x map. Now the emulator won’t even start. does anyone now how to fix this problem?

I got my PSP 5 days ago with a 2.01 FW. Didn’t know and updated to v2.6. I been working on this to get the games to work. Been doing this for 2 days and finally got things to work. I do get errors and crashes until i got it to work correctly. Only time it crash on me is if I try to get the Sega Genesis to work. If anyone can tell me how to get Sega and where the roms go I could help on the SNES.

I do exactly what the guide tells me and there is no load availible when in gta so i looked it up and i think there is regions for the game saves here is the code for my game save for Gta ULES00151S0 where as the one for the homebrew on is ULUS10041S5 notice the U the third character may represent the region of USA where as i live in europe where it is a E as the third charecter representing europe i was wondreing if therte are any ways of making this work

It will not work at all if you do not have the real GTA:LCS and also if your firmware is not v2.5-v2.6.

Last night I also go the DGEN v.70/1.30/Sega Genesis and rom working there is bugs still and sound is choppy at some point.
i’m from Greece and here things are a little bit complicated…
1.) can i get homebrew soft to work on any psp version??
2.) where can i find the programms and procedures for getting the most out of my psp..

this works great just read the instructions properly and you can run your home brew but you will need firmware 2.60 if you have firmware 2.0 dont upgrade downgrade to 1.50 if you have 2.1 then upgrade

You will need the real retail version of GTA:LCS for v2.60. ISO image and all that good tweaks are mainly for v1.5 fw. Save money and grab the GTA retail because once you learn how to use this its all worth it… Have fun and play safe..

i have downloaded the software and put it onto my psp. when i go on gta, the save does not come up
make sure you get eloader096, it should self install.
and use uo_Snes9x_002y32, for your SNES emulations, it works great, just set it to skip 2 frames, and 4:3 aspect. games run at a descent speed. does anyone know the best nes & gba emulators for the GTA eboot? i have a version of jnes that runs fine, but i have trouble shutting down the psp.

Use the new NesterJ NES Emulator v1.10 overwrite the old one which should been v1.07 I think..
setting options is like Snes but the thing is no more D-pad but this is the best one I have because YOU can Exit to PSP Menu now.. Enjoy!

Ok i have followed the tutorial… and when i am on the home page of the PSP i can see the e loader mario thingy, but i do not no how to load it up and play games.
Even when i load up GTA and try to select slot 5, it wont let me because it only shows my previous game save. arrrgh please help (Highflyerhardy@aol.com)
when you have succesfully installed the e-loder, even if you have no homebrew games in the folder can you still load it up through GTA.

Some emulators still has bugs or haven’t found a way to fix it this is why you cannot exit on some emulators. If your games freezes after prolong play this is usually normal as to your memory, rom, scan isn’t all perfect. I sometime get this with rom BINS.

Have you try redownloading just to make sure they are not corrupted?
You must also have it in PSP/GAME/DGEN

You HAVE to have a PSP with v2.6 or less for it to work.
There is NO downgrader for 2.6 to 1.5.
So stop asking the same questions if there is no alternative!
Download the 2.6 update, and BUY (shock+horror) the GTA:Liberty Stories for your PSP.

RichyCanEvil post worked for me, i tried numerous others. yeap. Everything else just just froze or shutoff my psp. That is eboot096 self-install, selecting all opts, uo_Snes9x_002y32 emulator. and GTA: LC.

Thanks alot Ghost Hacker, you’ve answered most of my questions with your most recent post. Will the .tiff exploit work with those methods? I’m running 2.0 and have GTA LCS, but the .tiff method is much faster imo.

Hi guys, i’m on 2.60. I’v done the homebrew, and I loaded the profile 5, I went to the homebrew menu. There I tested one by one all my Sega Genesis Emulators. None had worked. The PSP turned off. Can anyone help me?

Placasoft from Team Emergency Exit has been working on his project “PSPdualBoot” for a long time. Did he just stop? The answer is NO. Yesterday, Placa gave me a chance to actually test the current progress – very impressive.
The original objective of this project is to automatically launch a homebrew when turning on your PSP. But still, the users should have the ability to choose not to load the homebrew on startup and hit the original XMB interface. The users should be able to select which homebrew they want to launch.
As we can imagine, the project needs to modify our firmware to take effect. Currently Placa is working on an installer for installing and customizing the Auto-Start service, so I had to test it under MPH’s Firmware Launcher. I downloaded the decrypted 1.50 firmware and installed it properly on my memory stick, then applied Placa’s patch on it. After that, I started the firmware launcher. When seeing the prompt of the launcher, I turned on my WiFi switch and then pressed X button to start the emulation.
The launcher started to load the system, as the memory stick access light was blinking. Then the PSP startup video was played, the background with wavy lines was shown. But I never had a chance to see the old XMB interface before the screen went black after 2 seconds. Then, the access light continued to blink… and blink. After several seconds, PSP-OSS was loaded (Yay!).
The homebrew worked fine, but I got bored very soon. I just quitted PSP-OSS and modified the settings to load another homebrew. This time I picked PSIX, maybe the very first one you want to load on startup. And yeah, it loaded perfectly.
Placa told me he didn’t think there was anything that PSPdualBoot couldn’t load. Any homebrew you have in your mind that works on 1.50 can be started automatically with PSPdualBoot.
Placa is now working on an installer. This installer will enable you to customize which homebrew you want to load on startup, and then apply the patch to your firmware. He will focus especially on safety, to make sure you won’t brick your PSP with it (as long as you don’t cut the power of the PSP by yourself).
I also discussed with Placa about something else, like if this can be used to penetrate the parental control of some PSP games. He said very likely. Maybe I was too curious, this function sounds really redundant. :P
The release date is still unknown according to Placa. Maybe just like the famous Carmark said “It’s done, when it’s done.”

Im sick! Wham Im I doing wrong? Im in the Eloader title screen, I can change the clock speed, and I can see the one emulator I put in there (Snes9X) I start it and obviously, psp shuts off. What am I doing wrong? Im a noob in this but Im sure everything is in its right place (except maybe the ONE MEGAMAN ROM I put in there) PSP/GAME/SNESX9(contains EBBOT.PBP and megaman rom. Is that SNES9X folder wrong there, or does that emulator simply doesn’t work? Plz help!!!

THIS IS FOR TRANSLATING JAP TO ENG ROM 4 SNES
Hey sup!
To ART 16. I been working around the clock with few games you been asking about for the snes. The patches are hard i mean very hard to come by. I cannot find the Original source for all games because people don’t code them (HACK). They need of 3 parts for this translation though. 1 for the original game IPS file, 2 the rom itself uncon it all files(editing image), and 3 the hacked version to complete final patch.
Example:
Original rom from jap version
rom.smc (editing Hack source)
dejap.ips (editing Hard part Translating)
convert 2
rom.smc (editing Hacked)
rom.ips (rename to match game)
Final: ROM.IPS FILE created
Use IPSWIN.exe to apply patch within the hacked version rom not the
original rom with jap lang.
confusing? Maybe I didn’t explain correctly who knows but I know what i am doing so maybe worry less and just play it if it works…
I tried editing them to work with the rom but it fails at some point. I am not so sure about patching Jap roms though they are great games with awesome graphics. Some game roms cannot be patched because this will cause bugs but playable sometimes. For now what I really can say is just to work with what you can and let me know what it is you want for what game, roms, or patch file nor TXT. Since this is complicated I will find time to work on it when i get the chance.
update: Currently I can’t find anyone working the patch onto the PSP SNES but yes it does work but after fully patching it with the 3 files needed.
Japan got some FREAKEN awesome games, but too bad they in jap langs.
I hope we find a way through this So much fun with the Jap version converted LOL.

Remember right now not all games are capable of translating nor the source is hard to find so you just got to wait also if certain game isnt out for patch…
I also email the guy and he cannot help me on this part because he doesnt work on this stuff.
I have the translation files for couple games u wanted but the funny thing is patching them sometimes they work and sometimes error. I also wanted you all to know I can only do this on my time so please dont wait on me for files or patches…
